Thinking outside the square to produce an innovative garment from trash has proved a challenge for Ruma Rima. A challenge we accepted.
The criteria required the garments to be made from either: household, industrial, manufactured or man-made waste; or re-used/recycled clothing, objects, fabric off-cuts. We were encouraged to use construction materials that were environmentally friendly.
We had to produce an extensive documented portfolio including initial drawings and diarise each day of creating. Some fantastic garments evolved, and it has been a great experience! A big thank you to Ngaire and Sarah for lending a hand in the classroom when the sewing machines were first unpacked and also Els Willers for donating such wonderful items to get creative with.
We hope you enjoy our garments!
