Book Week at Waitoki School

Wow!  What a wonderful way to end an action packed term focusing on Space.

We have enjoyed class rotations (on Monday with the lovely Mrs Green making cool personalised book marks and Wednesday with the wonderful Mrs Croft making African masks), a book fair, dress up day, whole school movie (Bugsy Malone), sausage sizzle with Constable Dave and a visit from the lovely librarians at Helensville Library . . . phew!

Ms Brown had some fun teaching Ruma Rua on Monday reading Tangaroa's Gift, and Wednesday with Ruma Tahi reading Julia Donaldson's awesome books Monkey Puzzle and The Gruffalo.

In class we have had to manage our time well, completing six book week activities to a high standard.  These included:  a book mark, book jacket, audio book, poem, comic and movie poster all based on book characters or themes.  We also created a class book:  The ABC of Technology.  This included prints (and information) about 26 ICT apps, programmes or communication tools.  The prints proved tricky, especially making sure we made the layered template in mirror image, having enough glue on our layers and even making a cardboard replica of the symbol.  Luckily we are great at persevering in Ruma Rima and got everything completed in the time frame given - well done!
